About Gay Fad Studios:
Gay Fad Studios began in Michigan before relocating to Lancaster, Ohio in 1945, where founder Fran Taylor built one of the most daring glass decorating companies of its time. At a moment when few women held leadership roles in American industry, Taylor not only established herself as a pioneering CEO but also assembled a studio of women artists who transformed plain glass blanks into vibrant, decorated barware. Their bold midcentury designs brought personality and flair to everyday drinkware, helping define the look of postwar American entertaining.
Though the company closed in the 1960s, Gay Fad Studios was revived in 2022—exactly 60 years later—by David and Jason Annecy. Today, the studio continues Taylor’s legacy of fearless creativity with exclusive product lines, a boutique store and museum in Lancaster, and events that celebrate midcentury style, including the annual Bottoms Up barware showcase each June. Gay Fad Studios remains dedicated to honoring its roots while reimagining glassware for a new generation of collectors and cocktail lovers.
